It is a little late, but atleast we are putting it out there now...lol..
So..Dec 8, 2010 was a WONDERFUL day! Benjamin, my mom and my cousin Cassie and I went in to the hospital at 0600 to get induced. We were under the impression that they were going to just break my water and see where it goes from there, but oh no...they wanted to start me on Pitocin and THEN break my water. Kind of reluctanly, Benjamin and I decided to go ahead with the Pitocin. Let me tell you now..that stuff is from the devil! My contractions started to slowly get stronger and I remember Leah and my doula Karen coming. At 0930 Dr. Seavey came in and broke my water....that was a crazy experience! It didnt hurt, it was very warm and LOTS of water came out, Dr. Seavey said she was "very satisfied" with my water..lol. Anyway, VERY soon after my water breaking the nurses upped my Pitocin and the contractions began to hurt. I was able to joke through some of them but they got tough FAST. I was able to breathe through most of them but after the first time they checked my cervix the contractions started feeling like I was being ripped apart. There is no way to describe the pain but it was worth it. I got pretty far before I requested some medicine and they put something in my IV (which the nurse put in wrong and HUUURT so bad the whole flippin time) The medicine they gave me made me really tired and I remember people trying to wake me up and telling me to breathe....kind of scary. Well that medicine was only suppose to take the edge off for 20 minutes and when it let up...holy crap! The contractions were so bad I couldnt see straight...literally. I was having the hardest time concentrating on anybody and getting through the contractions. When I threw up a bit and then REALIZED I had thrown up after the fact, I knew I did not want to push my son out and not be able to see him and enjoy our first moments. So I talked to Benjamin and we decided that it was ok that I get the epidural. I really felt like I had let alot of people down especially since I was so close to having Josiah in my arms. I was 8 cm and 100% effaced and the baby was at +2 station (I think..lol) and I was in transition so we had to get the epidural fast. Let me just say, I will try to go all natural again but that epidural was a MIRACLE! LOL. The doctor who put it in was amazing and had alot of patience with me! LOL.Well about 10 minutes after the epi was in I started pushing and both the nurses and the doctor said I was a superstar pusher! haha! I guess thats a good thing....When Josiah finally came out ( I will spare the details of what that felt like..lol) it was amazing! I am so blessed to have him and Benjamin and the past three weeks have gone by so fast! But I have typed enough for now and I am sure more details will soon follow. Thanks for all the support guys!
